Participant Responsibilities
Successful mentorship is built upon mutual respect, communication, commitment, and active participation. Participants are encouraged to:

Participate actively in discussions and activities.
Complete agreed-upon goals and action steps.
Notify us of scheduling conflicts as early as possible.
Maintain respectful behavior toward staff, volunteers, and other participants.

Parent and Guardian Involvement
For youth participants, parents and guardians play an important role in supporting growth and development. Depending on the participant's age, goals, and program involvement, parents or guardians may be asked to participate in consultations, progress discussions, family sessions, or program-related communication.
Trusted Shoulders Mentorship seeks to balance youth privacy with parental involvement while prioritizing safety and healthy family engagement.
Communication Policy

Participation in mentorship services should not be considered a substitute for professional mental health care or medical treatment.
Emergency and Crisis Policy
Trusted Shoulders Mentorship is not an emergency service provider.
If a participant is experiencing thoughts of self-harm, suicidal ideation, threats of violence, abuse, neglect, medical emergencies, or other crisis situations, they should immediately contact emergency services, a crisis hotline, or an appropriate licensed professional.
Emergency situations require immediate professional intervention and should not be addressed through standard mentorship communication channels.
Professional Relationship Boundaries
Professional boundaries protect both participants and staff.
